Season 7 - Opening Concert
Monday September 30, 2019
7:00 P.M.
BCP is excited to welcome you to the first concert of our 7th Season! One of Broadway's leading and most sought after concertmasters, Una Tone, will lead performances of two incredible charismatic string quartets, including one by her fellow Latvian countryman, Peteris Vasks. Vasks's passionate adoration for nature is mirrored in his String Quartet No. 2 - "Summer Tunes". You'll be swept away by the breathtaking and evocative sounds of nature and transported into a color-filled world concluding with the ushering in of autumnal resignation. The evening will also include smaller chamber works, which continue to draw their inspiration from the natural and folk traditions of Eastern European music and culture.
PROGRAM
Peteris Vasks - String Quartet No. 2
Grazyna Bacewicz - Violin Duets on Folk Themes
Joachim Stutschewsky - Latvian song from Hasidic Suite for cello and piano
Grigor Arakelian - Tertruk from Armenian Ancient Dance for cello and piano
